Airspan Solution for the 4.9 GHz Band
Assisting public safety, first responders and defense entities to protect and serve
U.S. local, municipal and state government entities can hold a license in the 4.9 GHz frequency band as defined under FCC Part 90 rule section 90.523 and are eligible to deploy networks for a variety of applications. The Federal government cannot hold licenses, but can share local or state systems.
Using this specially allocated frequency band, public safety entities can set up a network to transmit voice, data and live streaming video information which is critical to best perform their duties and ensure public safety. Airspan’s 4.9 GHz WiMAX solution serves a number of agencies such as first responders, fire fighters, law enforcement, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), disaster recovery, utilities and others. Airspan enables these agencies to operate more efficiently with seamless connectivity, improved inter-departmental communication and real-time access to data/video updates.
WiMAX enabled applications:
- Emergency Operations
- Public Safety Communications
- Digital Video Surveillance for improved safety and traffic control
- Automated Meter Reading
- Code Compliance
- DOT Communications
- Building Inspections
- eGovernment Self-Service Kiosk
- Social Services Field Worker
The WiMAX network enables mobile communication for road-bound units such as first responders, interlinking of remote buildings and locations, and automated feeding of information. These applications are pertinent for efficient government operations and made possible with Airspan’s secure, robust, reliable and affordable technology.
Government entities are under constant public scrutiny and pressure to keep expenditures to low and reasonable levels. WiMAX eliminates the need to dig and install wires and cables that would normally allow inter- and intra-departmental communication. Traditionally, the only way to create a communications network has been to dig trenches throughout the city to install E1/T1 lines, taking a long time to complete, disturbing citizens and costing an exorbitant amount of money. Using a wireless broadband solution allows agencies to benefit from advanced, new-age communications quickly, to keep installation costs to a minimum and to leave the environment and residents undisturbed.
Airspan equipment is designed to extend, enable and enhance public safety communications systems with a platform that is easy to install, modular and scalable.
Airspan 4.9 GHz solution features:
