BOCA RATON, FLDECEMBER 1, 2004 -- Airspan
Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: AIRN), a leading worldwide provider of
broadband wireless access networks, including WiMAX standard systems,
announced today that has sold its WipLL solutions to Newcom Communications
Americas of Guatemala for installation in Newcoms networks
in Central America.
Under its agreement with Newcom, Airspan will deliver approximately
$500,000 of WipLL base station and customer premise equipment
to Newcom for deployment in Newcoms operations in Guatemala,
El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Deliveries commenced in
September 2004 and will be completed by the end of this year.
The equipment will operate in the 2.3GHz, 2.5GHz, 3.45GHz and
5.8GHz frequency bands. The WipLL infrastructure equipment to
be sold will be capable of serving more than 500 end users.
Newcom started operations in Central America in 2000, and operates
a combination of state-of-the-art point-to-multipoint wireless
networks in proprietary frequencies combined with selected fiber
optic access networks, in 13 cities in Central America, in countries,
including a sales office in the USA. Newcom provides integrated
broadband data, Internet, voice and video solutions to corporate
and government clients locally and regionally in Central America,
and from there to the World via the NAP of the Americas. Nowadays,
Newcom is a leading regional service provider to the corporate
market place.

data speeds of up to 4 Mbps (3.2Mbps net) to each customer. WipLL
introduces real-time adaptive modulation (2-, 4-, 8-level FSK)
and auto retransmission request (ARQ); features that offer high
quality services whilst maximizing spectrum utilization. WipLL
is available in both licensed bands (700 MHz, 2.5GHz, 2.7-2.9GHz
and 3.4-3.8GHz) and unlicensed bands (900MHz, 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz).
