Airspan Announces Voice Over IP (VoIP)
Solutions Tailored to the US Market

SAN JOSE, CA– January 21, 2004— Airspan Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: AIRN), a leading worldwide provider of broadband fixed wireless DSL networks, announced today that it has successfully introduced its world-leading Voice over IP (VoIP) solutions to the US market in the rapidly developing 700MHz, 900MHz, 2.4GHz, MMDS and 5.8GHz market segments through its Wireless IP Local Loop (WipLL) product line.

“VoIP technology has come of age,” commented Dick Lee, Airspan’s Vice President of Sales for North America. “For the past 12 months we have seen a significant increase of interest in VoIP technology among US service providers. We have implemented trials with leading service providers that have gone extremely well. One such trial has resulted in the contract we announced yesterday with Mobius, and we expect others to result in decisions to roll out the technology for the delivery of wireline-quality voice as well as data services to residential, SOHO and SME customers. We consider our leadership position in VoIP as one more reason that ILECs, CLECs and WISPs are selecting Airspan.”

Airspan’s WipLL product has features uniquely suited to the delivery of VoIP services, the most important of which are the comprehensive Quality of Service (QoS) features, and the product’s open architecture, which enables interworking with a wide range of VoIP access devices and media gateways from different suppliers. WipLL’s field-proven QoS features ensure that high-quality VoIP services can be delivered together with a rich range of data services. The open architecture ensures that service providers can either utilize the end-to-end solutions offered by Airspan or use access devices and media gateways from their preferred suppliers in conjunction with WipLL. The architecture supports GR303, analog and softswitch/media gateway network interfaces.

“WipLL has been delivering VoIP solutions since 2001,” commented Uzi Shalev, Airspan’s General Manager, WipLL Manufacturing. “In the past three years we have worked with many leading operators and technology partners to develop a wealth of experience in VoIP including high-quality and cost-effective solutions for VoIP requirements. We are excited about putting our world-leading expertise in VoIP at the disposal of the service providers in the US, especially at this critical transition period in the voice industry.”

More information on Airspan’s new VoIP technology is available at its exhibition booth at the Wireless Communications Association’s 10th Annual Technical Symposium & Business Expo, taking place January 21 – 23, 2004 at the Fairmont Hotel, San Jose, California.
