UK Telecoms Firms Makes Waves in Polish Wireless Fixed Access Market

London, September 9, 1998 - The UK leading provider of Wireless Fixed Access technology, Airspan Communications Ltd., today announced the signing of a contract with BPT Telbank SA of Poland to supply Airspan AS4000 Wireless Local Loop products. The equipment will be used to provide high-speed data connections between the Polish telecommunications operator’s customers, which comprise predominantly banks and businesses.

The Airspan AS4000 Wireless Local Loop (WLL) equipment is to be deployed in several cities first, and eventually across Poland. "This order for WLL equipment is a key part of Telbank’s strategy to provide reliable and cost-effective data links to our customers," commented Andrzej Cichy, BPT Telbank’s President. "Airspan’s advanced WLL system is ideal for our requirements, since it is easy to install and has a powerful management capability. We expect that our customers will welcome it unreservedly."

The contract follows the successful completion of a trial of similar equipment undertaken in Warsaw in the first quarter of 1998. Airspan has been working with Telbank, to develop a telecommunications strategy in what has become an increasingly competitive marketplace. "An on-going programme is being developed from our Feltham-based headquarters from where a series of new products and services are being rolled out for these critical data applications," concluded Stonestrom.
