Telbeskid Selects Airspan Networks for Wireless DSL Offering

Multiyear agreement will allow Telbeskid Sp. z o.o. to provide high-speed Internet access and voice services throughout Poland

London, October 5, 2000 - Airspan Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: AIRN), the leading wireless DSL equipment provider, today announced that it has signed a multiyear contract with Telbeskid Sp. z o.o., a telecommunications operator, to deploy its AS4000 wireless DSL platform throughout Poland.

Telbeskid is currently deploying Airspan's wireless DSL systems in the 3.5 Ghz band to deliver high-speed Internet access and voice services throughout the communities of Nowy Sacz, Grybow and Gorlice and will expand their deployment over the next three years to include additional markets in Poland.

"The opportunity for competitive operators in countries such as Poland to deploy high-speed Internet services and carrier-grade voice to both small-to-medium businesses and residential subscribers is skyrocketing," said Eric Stonestrom, President & CEO of Airspan. "Our wireless DSL platform will allow Telbeskid to grow their markets seamlessly and affordably, and deliver the services their customers are demanding.

"Analyst firm Frost & Sullivan, in their July 2000 report "European Wireless Local Loop Markets," predict that fixed wireless revenues in Central and Eastern Europe will exceed $2 billion in 2006, due to the expansion and upgrade of telecommunications infrastructure in the region. "We are currently experiencing an unprecedented demand for both high-speed Internet and voice services," said Lubomir Glinieki, CEO of Telbeskid. "The ability to provide the broadest range of IP data services and carrier-grade voice services - combined with being the most experienced wireless DSL equipment provider on the market -- set Airspan apart from the competition."
