Airspan’s “Virtual RAN” LTE Small Cell Portfolio Wins Coveted Small Cell Forum Industry Award

London, UK, June 12, 2015 - Airspan Networks Inc., a leading provider of LTE small cell RAN solutions wins the Small Cell Forum Design and Technology Award for its ground-breaking AirRAN LTE-Advanced Virtual Small Cell product portfolio. The annual Small Cell Forum awards celebrate the pioneering achievements within the global small cell industry. Now in its seventh year, the 2015 awards recognize innovation and design excellence in an expanded and increasingly mature small cell ecosystem.
AirRAN is a range of high performance LTE eNodeB small cells optimized for deployment in heterogeneous networks on non-traditional outdoor deployment locations, for example on street lights, utility poles and rooftops, and into indoor public access enterprise deployment scenarios. All AirRAN eNodeBs support Virtual RAN (V-RAN) deployment which enables features that were traditionally only possible using an advanced Macro Cell infrastructure. AirRAN is also the world’s first small cell solution that is designed to support the Small Cell Forum’s Network FAPI, known as nFAPI, which enables the virtualization of small cell.

At the Small Cells World Summit in London, Airspan exhibited its portfolio of AirRAN LTE eNodeBs (AirVelocity, AirSynergy, and AirHarmony) and its indoor and outdoor iRelay and iBridge transport solutions. Airspan’s eNodeB’s range in power from 2x125mW indoors to 2x20W outdoors, connecting a wide variety of user devices enabling LTE-Advanced services operating in bands from 700 MHz up to 6.4 GHz.
